This past weekend the Area 51 MtG Team descended upon the beautiful city of San Antonio to compete in the Magic the Gathering Amsterdam Pro Tour Qualifier Tournament. The team had prepared heavily for what they knew would be a chaotic meta-game having had a new MtG release only days earlier. After playing for nearly 11 hours, Team Area 51 Captain Christian Flodstorm-Sconce won the event and qualified for Pro Tour Amsterdam! Congratulations Christian on your huge win! Board Game Night is officially in full swing every Wednesday night at Area 51! Come into the store anytime after 6:00pm and catch yourself a quick pick up game of Settlers of Catan or Dominion. After weeks of waiting, Area 51 has received a limited restock of the popular WWII air combat miniature game Check Your 6! Supplies are limited so don't delay in getting your copy. Also, we expect to receive a restock on 1/300th scale airplanes this week so keep checking back regularly to make sure you don't miss out.

On Saturday, March 13th Area 51 will host one of only a few Magic the Gathering Grand Prix Houston Trial events in the DFW area, where the winner receives an early bye to round 3 of the Grand Prix tournament in Houston. The tournament is Extended Format and will start at 10:00am sharp. Registration begins at 9:00am and attendance will cap at 64 players. Please don't hesitate to call the store if you have any questions about the event.

Just to let everyone know, FNM will happen at its normal time tonight. We will not be starting late and the event caps at 48 players so please arrive as early as possible to avoid traffic and the chance of not playing. Hope to see you there!

The newest expansion for the Magic the Gathering Collectible Card Game officially releases on February 5th, but you can get your Worldwake fix early right here at Area 51 by attending the official Pre-release Event! Come in on Sunday January 31st and play in a Worldwake sealed tournament one week before you can buy the product. Then, on February 5th you can attend the official Launch Party Event and play in an FNM style Booster Draft tournament. Both events have limited seating so make sure you sign up early!
